Letter #15

Lily,
Its been one week since you were born – and what a week it has been!  Your birth was pretty scary, with your mom having to have a C-Section and all, but after that, its been pure joy.  I’ve loved holding you in my arms, rocking you to sleep, gazing into your eyes, watching your little smiles, playing with your long, strong arms and legs, and even changing your diapers!  Lily, I’ve loved every minute of being your Father this first week, and I know that will only continue.  You’re a precious little girl, a beautiful gift from God, and I thank God for you each and every day!  Thanks for blessing our marriage little girl.
I wanted to share a song with you.  I heard this song at the end of some random TV show a couple weeks ago and immediately looked up the lyrics, thinking of you.  Aside from the line about “not knowing where we come from or where we go” (I do think I have some answers to that….) the lyrics to this song are just too perfect.
You Were Born – Cloud Cult
You were born into a strange world.
Like a candle, you were meant to share the fire.
I don’t know where we come from, and I don’t know where we go.
But my arms were made to hold you, so I will never let you go.
Cuz you were born to change this life.
You were born to chase the light.
You were born…

Love your mother, yeah she’s a good one.
She’ll build you armor; keep you warm as a hen.
The stars may fall and the rains may pour,
But I will love you evermore.
You were born to make this right.
You were born to chase the light.
You were born…

Oh my precious, oh my love, when they come to take me,
I will hold you from above.
I don’t know why we’re here, and I don’t know how,
But I’m here with you now, I am here with you now.
Cuz you were born to change this life.
Cuz you were born to make this right.
Cuz you were born to chase the light.

Lily, I can’t help but think of you when I read these words.
Because you were born…….that makes me very, very happy!
Love,
Your Father
