Wow, I can’t believe that 6 weeks ago today, Lily had just been born. I can’t believe how quickly the time has past. Not as quickly as you might think, mind you, especially at first – but very quickly. Lauren and I are sure that the next six weeks will pass far quicker.
I’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, and found that my heart can expand to a size I didn’t think previously possible, during these past six weeks. As challenging as it has been (and it has been challenging at times, let me assure you) this little girl is an amazing gift from God (and Lauren!) and I’m so, so happy to be her daddy.
I should also say, quickly, thanks so much to Gigi and Pops, Omi and
Homi 🙂 Grandpa, Auntie Tiff, to our wonderful church family, our friends scattered all over the world who have prayed for us, rejoiced with us, and sent us gifts. We could not have done this without you; seriously! Thanks also, to Larissa. You’ve been a big, wait scratch that, HUGE help to us, and we are so very grateful for the two chances to go out on a date over the past month. We appreciate you. (Would you believe that between Auntie Tiff and Larissa, we’ve been fortunate enough to go on three dates in the past 6 weeks, alone, without Lily!!!) Lastly, thanks to my beautiful, wonderful, amazing wife Lauren. Thanks for the gift of this precious little girl. Thanks for waking up when she does at night to feed her, and for wanting me to rest then so I’m OK for work in the morning, and for ALL the other things that you do. I love and appreciate you honey. It’s not always easy, but you keep pushing forward. You care for her relentlessly, and I am so proud of you and happy to have you as my wife and as the mother to our child.
Well, the first fist bump has been accomplished, so from here on out, it’s time to explode! (I.e., can’t wait to see what the next six weeks will bring!)
